OpEd Process

Hmmmmmmm..... The OpEd Process.... I would have to say that the process we used was very effective. It allowed a lot of time for editing and revising, time that I do not usually spend on papers. It definitely made my paper better to have more than one person read it, to get different opinions. Welp, that's it for now folks!

Peer Reviews

I thought the peer reviews we did in class today were very helpful and efficient.  I only have one suggestion, that maybe instead of reviewing only with one person, we could review with two people.  To have enough time with two people, we could just switch papers then discuss suggestions right after and make corrections.  I think it is important to get more than one person's opinion on your writing, especially to make sure you catch all mistakes and get different points of view.  Other than that, I thought the process was laid out well and was effective in improving my paper.

Family Matters

Tonight I had the awesome experience of a "cousins date night" with a bunch of my cousins and a date of their choice. We went to dinner then met up at my grandma's house for games. It was a hilarious, fun night. To say the least, I am very grateful for my family and the chance I have to live near them in Utah. Growing up, my immediate family has always lived far away and only gotten the chance to know them during summer trips. It has been awesome getting to know each of them better, I am blessed to have the family that I do, who loves me and shares my standards. 

Texting Machines

We all know that texting has enveloped our modern society and completely altered the way we communicate.  My concern is that it is crippling the ability of our world's youth to communicate normally.  Communication is a key to a functioning society, and without it, we will fail.  Texting as a form of communication upholds a sense of instant gratification and immediate response.  My OpEd will be directed towards youth and anyone in direct contact or influence of youth.  Hopefully, I will be able to portray the importance of communication skills and self-awareness in means of texting and cell phone usage.

What do I want to say to the world?

When writing a paper about ANYTHING it is sometimes frustrating trying to think of a topic.  I was considering writing on of the following:
-The effects that gay couples have on the children they raise.
-How music can effect our choices and view on society (for good or bad).
-The negative effect of texting on the rising generation (how youth isn't learning how to communicate normally).
These are just some ideas though, I will keep brainstorming.  Any ideas?

White Blank Page

Yes, I know this title is a song by Mumford and Sons, but it fits perfectly with my topic: my future.  I feel that my life could go in so many directions, and it freaks me out sometimes that any one small decision could change the course of my life forever.  I know what I want in my future, and that is happiness and love, as cheesy as it sounds, it is the truth.  The specifics though have not been set in stone.   I feel that as long as I do my best, God will do the rest.  The end.
